Unstable Orbits

Kindle Unlimited

Possibly in response to the last progress report’s pitiful chart showing 1 page read, I’ve had a flurry of page reads. Enough to push me past one thousand total page reads for the year (across all books). A milestone, albeit a tiny one compared to the successes of others.

Thanks, everyone, for reading!

Reviews and ratings

I haven’t seen any more reviews of Unstable Orbits. Goodreads has a new 3/5 rating.

I’ve attempted more promotion on Facebook groups, focusing on the fact that all my books are now on Kindle Unlimited.

Audiobook

I’ve recorded 80% of all scenes; editing is lagging behind.

One of the newly recorded scenes is the final scene of the book — 1,063 words (for part 2 recordings, I’m using the algorithm “record the longest scene not yet recorded” because why not). All unrecorded scenes are now shorter than 900 words each.

I’ve started editing part 2 scenes now too, following the algorithm “edit the longest scene not yet edited,” naturally (the longest scene in part 2 is 2,371 words). Edits typically require some re-recording, so my “recording studio” time is split between recording new scenes and editing existing ones.

AXIS book 1

Book 1 has a title now, unless I change my mind. No, I’m not revealing it yet. It’s not AXIS.

I’ve finished revising chapters 11–15, and I’m about to move on to chapter 16 — the start of act 3. Acts 1 and 2 total 65k words. I’m still estimating 80-90k words in total.

I’d like to finish this revision pass before the end of the year. It’s doable, but might be tricky due to Christmas.

Book 1 will need another, more rapid revision pass before I send it to beta readers for their feedback.

Miscellaneous

I spent a week in Athens with friends. One highlight was seeing the Antikythera mechanism: ambition fulfilled! Here are a couple of photos of this and other exciting adventures:
