The girl, leaning back against the tree and sliding slowly down, laughed again,
Josh points towards Queens’ Green, a couple of hectares of common grassland between Queens’ College and Queen’s Road.
Another few metres, I thought, and we’d have a gate between us and them.
Only one tree-lined path to take, a minute’s walk or so alongside the field pompously named Scholars’ Piece — usually full of cows.
Just coming into view around the curve in the path was the girl in the red dress.
They reach the foot of King’s Bridge. “Oh, now, hang on.” Josh stops, serious. “This is a bridge.”
